What will I have to do on the driving test?
First you will be asked to read a number plate from approximately 20 metres away.
Second you will be asked 2 questions on basic maintenance.
- You will need to tell the examiner the answer to one question
- You will need to show the examiner the answer to one question
Third you will need to demonstrate safe and competent driving without assistance for approximately 35 minutes - the examiner will tell you which route to follow.
During this time you will be asked to carry out 2 manoeuvres and possibly an emergency stop.
As of October 4th 2010 only 1 manoeuvre will be required and also, an 'independent' driving section will be included in the driving test.
Independent means you'll have to attempt to navigate a short route shown to you on a map without instruction from the examiner. Example
